Childhood medical negligence success stories

£15,000 for loss of testicle in 14-year-old boy due to medical negligence

Our medical negligence solicitors acted for the family of a boy who suffered the loss of a testicle due to a missed diagnosis of testicular torsion.

After suffering severe lower abdominal pain, the boy was taken by his family to their GP. The GP failed to carry out a proper examination, diagnosed suspected chlamydia and prescribed antibiotics.

Over the next two weeks, the boy’s left testicle shrivelled up. His family took him to see a different GP who immediately diagnosed testicular torsion, but by that point it was too late to save the affected testicle, which had to be surgically removed.

Our team represented the family in their claim against the original GP and, while liability was never admitted, the GP’s insurers agreed to pay an out-of-court settlement of £15,000.
